Got sent this a while ago from Nik @ RethinkVPS. They are currently offering 25% off recurring discount on their OpenVZ VPS plans, when you use promo code 25life. WHT offer reference here. “VPS 1.0” would be $4.46/month after the discount. Direct sign up link.
- 128MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
- 15GB storage
- 400GB/month at 1Gbps and then 20Mbps unmetered
- 2x IPv4
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
Payment method available in either PayPal or AlertPay. No IRC, no torrent according to their ToS, which also stated out their throttling rules. Hosting with Ubiquity Servers in either Atlanta GA (test IP: 108.62.174.82) or Phoenix AZ (test IP: 108.62.115.114). Again that’s different from the last time (Los Angeles) and the one before (Scranton) — I wonder why all the data center moves. They have been around since November 2010, and so far had Ryan/Sam Wilkinson + Jon posting here (so not a 1 man team). WHOIS info is still masked, and both NS are still running on the same server (since we first featured them last year).

“128MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory”. Hmm, that’s weird. A lot of burstable. Do they offer IPv6?
Sorry we don’t offer IPv6 as our datacenter doesn’t yet support it but as soon as they do we will offer it.
they are good! :)
We are glad you like our services.
IRC is now allowed! Can an admin please edit this out of the main post.
Just an update my name is Sam Wilkinson not Sam Wilson :)
I wonder what software they are using to force them throttling rules..
We are only using this in our terms to stop people on VPS 1.0 from using 5TB. If you use lets say 700GB that’s fine its just to stop people using enormous amounts.
So, Sam and crew. Why the datacenter moves? Or is this new stock in a new datacenter?
We moved away from Burst.NET because they failed to give us any kind of support and we moved from LA because the restrictions placed on us by the datacenter would not allow us control of our network.
Thanks for the response, Just was curious.
DRmike which host do you run/involved with?
Who here wants to answer that for me since I’m sick of doing so and receiving the abuse that comes along with it?
Damn, I’m too nice.
I run a shared and dedicated host located in Charlotte, NC. And you have to sign a paper NDA to find out the company.
I have a Quickweb VPS. Don’t listen to anyone who says have a BuyVM box or anything else.
Sorry Mike. I didn’t know if you had a vps company as you seem quite knowledgeable. Its nice too see a guy who gives up his free time to help charities :) Haha @ NDA if its that secretive I don’t want to know :p
Now I’m curious Mike, if you’re nicely priced I’ll sign that NDA to find out more heh.
Do you have some test files we can play with?
Thanks
You can get them at http://speedtest.rethinkvps.com/
Centos 6 yet not aviable?
25% off it’s over?
I have been having horrible uptime problems with them, if this keeps up i will be going under 90% very soon. The VPS goes down at least an hour every day on average (Cortex node). I have submitted a support ticket and we’ll see how it goes but i can’t recommend them in this current state.
I would like to add than Sam answered to this support ticket quickly and moved the VPS to another node. We’ll see how it goes but support has delivered so far.
I also have up time problems on node cortex, so far i have 3 hours down and it’s my first day here :(, support yet doesn’t answer me my ticket.
Atlanta nodes are out of stock, but they doesn’t show that information nowhere.
Support answer me and now it’s up the node, it seems they have problems with this node.
