Some years ago, I came across one of my favorite pages on the Internet: awesome-selfhosted.
The page is a curated list of “free software, network services, and web applications which can be hosted on your own servers”. Through it I’ve discovered a ton of useful software, including
- Monica, a personal CRM for all your contacts
- HomeBox, an inventory for your stuff
- BaseRow, an AirTable-like database
- many more!
The site includes personal dashboards, document management systems, file transfer, office suites – in fact, a whole galaxy of options. When I need new software, I usually check awesome-selfhosted first (and then see if what I want is already available on PikaPods).
But did you know there are other sources of awesomeness? Check these:
- Awesome Sysadmin: find your next monitoring solution, distributed filesystem, or VPN system
- Awesome Big Data: machine learning, fancy database systems, and more
- Awesome Public Data Sets: finance, healthcare, geography, or whatever else you need
- Awesome AI: LLMs, pic generators, and lots more
…and of course, inevitably, Awesome Awesome, a curated list of awesome curated lists.
