Ralph, from VPSslim, has an exclusive 75% off discount running for LowEndBox readers on yearly contracts of their OpenVZ plans.

VPSslim were founded in 2010, however this is their first offer on LowEndBox. They don’t have a Terms of Service because they claim their services have “No contracts, all of our products are prepaid”. I have spoke to a few hosts and they have told me that this is nonsense, as it’s still a contract for a set period of time. There is a long post on LowEndTalk which you may like to view before purchasing, where some customers have complained of poor performance. However, on their latest LowEndTalk offer, they claim the problems have now been fixed. You can use the promotional code “LET50VPS” to get the 256MB OpenVZ for €2.99 a month and the 1024MB plan for €4.99.
VPSSlim offer a full 7 days money back guarantee and accept Bank transfers, PayPal and iDeal as payment methods. VPN is allowed for personal use only and adult content is allowed. TUN/TAP & PPTT can be enabled and they offer a 99.99% Uptime guarantee. When ordering, you can choose from quite a few different addons including bandwidth, software (Castcontrol, Centovacast and cPanel) and IP addresses.
Network Information:
Their servers are fully owned and are located with SERVERIUS in Dronten, the Netherlands.
Test IPv4: 5.178.64.10

And are torrent allowed`?
They have a ToS: http://hostslim.nl/voorwaarden.pdf But it’s only in Dutch.
tl;dr:
– Dutch jurisdiction applies.
– No adult sites or ‘mp3 sites’, depends where the datacenter is located. In other words, it’s allowed to host adult sites on VPSes in this offer, Till the servers of VPSslim relocate outside the Netherlands.
– Nulled scripts aren’t allowed. But I strongly doubt that it would be an issue since there are enough open source / free scripts nowadays :P
As a sidenote I get the impression that you aren’t really buying a VPS at them, you’re ‘subscribing’ yourself for a VPS with a fee. You could only unsubscribe yourself after 6 months. Paying goes via automatic incasso. So when you want to just have a VPS for a year, you have to act in due time. In case when you want to continue the service but don’t pay timely even after you get a x amount of notification, you’ll get changed € 45,- exclusive VAT extra.
Conclusion: Not quite shocking. It’s a fair deal, as long as you keep attention like you have to do with each purchase of a VPS-service at any provider.
Have anyone tried this before?

Offer looks great, but that old review kill my good thinking about it. Im not gonna waste 50$ for a year,in order to get a server wich does nothing…
Anyway,I supose that Torrent is allowed since Netherlands has no problems with it,true?
Hi,
You should choose Annual Payment and then it should work.
Hi,
There is a 7 days money back guarantee. They forgot to post this, so you can try it out and if you’re somehow not satisfied then you can ask for a refund.
The promotion code you entered has been applied to your cart but no items qualify for the discount yet – please check the promotion terms
(Got that when trying to order either one of them, good start…)
took the basic yesterday almost instant delivery
so far no problem, the vps is fast and responsive , low ping, can change the OS in less than 10min
ticket answered in an hour
75% discount they are crazy !
yes it seems like a great offer, but what if they are planning to turn off their service in a couple of months?
Or even more, what would happen if the IO problem comes again. Last offer they posted was a total fail since they oversold as hell, and servers has around 4Mb/s IO.
Its a sweet, tasty, but risky to take. I’m considering the offer, Netherland is an interesting country for me, and server is just godlike.
“yes it seems like a great offer, what if they are planning to turn off their service in a couple of months?”
They’re an established company so it’s unlikely they’re planning on turning off the service anytime soon. They’ve been around 4 years and are a registered company in the Netherlands

As @fatmike told before, could you tell me @VPSSLIM what guarantees I have if I get one of your VPS? I wouldn’t like to get a real powerful VPS and lose it with all my information with no warning. VPSSLIM has been overselling too much and its quite strange.
If you can convince me about no worries, you probably will get +1 client for one year.
Quick setup and support tickets replied immediately (thanks Ralph). Powerful servers. 7 day money back guarantee very reassuring.
Thank you for the kind words :)
What stopped me from registering is that traceroute openly advertises the vps provider

I prefer to connect to general purpose backbone providers!

Hi,
It should be whitelabel now.
Great!
It’s systems GO for me!
Thanks!
are torrents allowed ? can anyone confirm eitherway
Is it RAID 10 Disk??
Hi Aziz,
Yes it is.
Why no response on the torrent questions? People are curious, at least respond.
Torrent is not allowed
Aren’t they?Your ticket team told me that they are allowed since Netherlands is not against P2P.
Anyway I’m considering to keep the server, its quite slow.
I purchased a year basic package(couldnt resist). Havent test it yet but you say its slow. Maybe use it as secondary server or keep multimedia and databases on another.
Anyway if it keeps online; 30€ per year is awesome even for some extra “horsepower”.
I/O was working slowly. I sent a ticket and it looks like they have solved it quitely. Now my server is working as I want.
I just hope it keep working this way.
€ 29.88/Yearly ($38)
is this right? i don’t find it with the promotional.
Hi,
Yes. You should select the annually payment and then use the promo code.
Is the offer recurring? Or only for the first year?
I will be using the site for two basic things:
1. As my dev and testing server
2. If good enough, then maybe as prod
3. To run Squid so that i can access websites blocked in my office (this would strictly be for personal use and no one else would be able to access squid)
So is it ok to run squid also?
Hi Mathew,
Yes the offer is recurring indeed. You mean Squid as in VPN? Yes that’s allowed.
I purchased the basic package for ~30€. My only concern is if one day the servers go offline or of bad “neighbors”..
Is the prices with cPanel included?
No it’s not.
hey
… so is it mistake at website? cPnale is -1 euro at the order summary (for one year order)
thx
Hi,
Yes it is indeed. Thanks.
Yes it makes more sense. How to discount a product thats not exactly yours 75%?
Can uoi put ubuntuj 12.04 as temolate?
Yes. We have those.
IRC client / server / bouncer allowed?
IRC is allowed yes.
I bought this service for a year. Raplh is very helpful.
speed is very decent. you guys should buy it . its worth every penny.
Thank you Jeff :)
I can confirm that. Tickets are incredible fast attended, and they always solve the problems.
Thank you John. We’re glad to hear that you’re satisfied.
Yes, that’s true !
Thanks Nik!
I have already bought this service, no control panel for me to change the OS.
There is. You should’ve recieved an e-mail about it. If not, then please open a ticket.
Oh thanks. Just delay receiving it.
Ok good to hear.
very old OS to choose from. is this normal?
ubuntu 8.04?? support is long gone for that one.
I like debian 6 32bit minimal for vps.
Hi K-RAY, Debian 6 32bit is no problem. We do support these, and is available in your VPS CP.
Hello VPSSlim,
I have ordered your VPS server for 12 months with 75% discount which is brilliant. However, I cannot use your VPS server to meet my requirements as there are lots of errors after I installed Ubuntu 11.10 with Postfix and ISPconfig 3.
Please note that I do install the same above applications on my other Ubuntu 11.10 VPS servers without issues.
I have requrested a full refund (very sorry for this) a couple of days ago; you mentioned you wanted to help resolve this technical issue. However, you seem no longer reply to my message, and now I have been very frustrated with this situation whether you have intention to help resolve tech issue or simply give me a full refund?
Cheers
Thon
Hi VPSSLIM,
I have ordered a vps server from you for 12 months with 75% discount; it is a good deal!
However, I have not able to use it to meet my requirements as there some bugs after I installed Ubuntu 11.10 with Postfix and ISPConfig 3. Please note that I do install the same applications on my other Ubuntu vps servers without issues.
You did mention you wanted to resolve the tech issue when I asked for full refund. But you seem no longer reply to my message.
Could you please give me a full refund as I am a bit frustrated with this delay.
Cheers
Thon
Hello VPSSLIM,
I have tried to send you message in support session, but you never respond to me?
Cheers
Thon
Hi Thon,
Your support tickets are answered. We try our best to help you as soon as possible, for free.
lol they will help you for free thats what a good host does anyway glad i held off on the yearly plan
Yes. But in your opinion we should manage the whole VPS meanwhile the VPS plan is unmanaged?
Hmm, not sure if I want to do this. VPSSLIM: fix this and you’ve got a sale :)
If I were you I wouldn’t even bother buying. At first you think the server is fast because you’re on a fresh node but 2weeks later the server is like freaking slow & unstable mainly cause they oversell. You can easily tell by checking your disk space it is slowly shrinking
no reply from vpsslim on this one?
>”no reply from vpsslim on this one?”
Here’s a reply :)
This is what a VPSSlim Pro plan which is supposed to have 200GB of diskspace looks like after 30-days. I’ve only used 3.3GB of storage and there is only 25GB of hard drive space available not the 196 GB I should still have available.
> df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/simfs 74G 3.3G 25G 12% /
tmpfs 1.0G 0 1.0G 0% /lib/init/rw
tmpfs 1.0G 0 1.0G 0% /dev/shm
>”At first you think the server is fast because you’re on a fresh node but 2weeks later the server is like freaking slow & unstable mainly cause they oversell. You can easily tell by checking your disk space it is slowly shrinking”
Yep, this node was fast 30 days ago. The server is now slow, unstable, and the 200GB of available storage space has shrunk to less than 30GB. This same thing has happened to me on every node I’ve been on at VPSSlim.
Hi Xereeto,
It’s totally fine here?
Sorry about that, it was showing up “Untrusted” on my phone, but on my PC it’s fine. Ah well, buying now :)
Ok great :) we’ll have a check on that anyway. Thanks!
Is it just me or are all the hostslim boxes down for the count?
I really want to point out how fast the technical support is. Replies were immediate, although it was Sunday late afternoon, and VPSSLIM really tried and solved the issues ASAP.
Nik.
Yeah, support is impressive. They solved my “problem” around ten times. Ten times or so they updated me with “IPv6 will be available in next few hours” ;-) Now… half year later or so, still no IPv6. On the top of that I must admit that they are always kind so I can’t be really pissed off on them even when I want to :)
Hi Spirit,
First of all we want to apologize for the delay. This is not what we want of course, we want you to be satisfied as a client. I found your ticket and I’ll update you A.S.A.P. with a possible solution for you. Thank you for being a steady client! :)
Thank you for the kind words though!
Hi Nik,
Thank you again for the kind words. We always try to respond as soon as possible.
mines been down for 24hours not too good seeing though only had it 5 days and one of them i couldnt use it maybe refund time
24 hours??? No it’s not? Please open a ticket and we’ll check your VM personally.
I was considering getting one but am concerned by all the negative feedback here and in the LET thread. People make it appear that stuff gets randomly deleted and the disk is under such heavy usage that it’s not really usable. Any 30-60+ day users with good experiences let me know.
Hi Xei,
Thank you for considering our offer. You can always signup, and if not fully satisfied, ask for a refund within 7 days from ordering. We want you to be satisfied and try our best to achieve this.
Just send us an e-mail if you have any further questions.
Happy holidays!
I used the VPS BASIC service for about two-three months, just to see if it was worth it.
+ Support is very quick to respond and very helpful
– Slow to connect, as if the machine is in hibernate, often have to wait around 10 seconds for a login or a webpage.
– I had two downtime notices 3 minutes before the host was brought down for what appears scheduled maintenance like updating the ipv6 config.
– Commands like top,ls, git pull can take random 0-10 seconds to start.
As a hobby web developer this machine is unusable. I canceled my account and not going to use the 9 months I already paid for, because its to frustrating slow.
Worst support and performance what I have met. 4 tickets are just closed 2 or 3 times with no answer.
My VPS has been down over a month(some IP routing issue what I had to tell them mysel because they couldn’t figure out that my VPS has sometihng wrong) and they have not give me IPV6 address so far(after 6 months).
I have contacted my lawyers and I’m going to sue them, because they won’t refund and I can’t use my VPS.
Stay Away from HostSlim
You get what you pay for is there motto I’m sure. I got this offering and it was good at the start. I setup a VPN on the server. After a few months of no problems I went to use the VPN and found there was no connection.
I logged into the server and tried to start openvpn and I got this:
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
SIOCSIFDSTADDR: No such device
: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
SIOCSIFMTU: No such device
I did a quick google search and found this is a problem on the openvz server.
When I opened a support ticket explaining the problem this is the response I got:
Hi,
What you’re trying to say is that we should check if tun/tap is enabled on your vps?
If you have more questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Kind Regards,
Ralph
After a 3 days of back and forth in the ticket I could again establish a VPN connection. Then just 8 days later Tun/Tap was dead again. I reopened the ticket and I was asked if I had rebooted the server. When I tried that and updated the ticket I got this response:
Hi,
Please stop rebooting your vps then if we are working on it :)
If you have more questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.Kind Regards,
Ralph
I updated the ticket 3 more times with no response and 4 days later the ticket closed with no resolution.
I reopened the ticket and 3 days later I get a response saying it should be fixed, Nope still broken
1 more day, another update saying it should be fixed: nope still not working
Eventually it took over a month and 4 separate tickets to resolve this issue.
Then just as I thought everything was working fine it died again not even 15 days later.
So Now I am on day 12 of my 3rd Tun/Tap outage and still my ticket ends up closing because of no updates from hostslim.
I lost it on them today, I was “that” customer that I hated when I worked in support. I’m not proud of my response but I’ve honestly had enough of these guys. Their response to my rant:
I’m not mad that easily so don’t worry as I do understand you’re frustrated. Though you’re not paying the money to rush us at all.
We’ll keep you updated later today/tomorrow.
If you have more questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Kind Regards,
Ralph
Rush them? Good God rushing is having something fixed in a few hours.
Stay the hell away from these jokers!
