These days, we rarely receive offers which are hosted with Softlayer because of the prices Softlayer charge. But Ryan, from FluidRhino, has somehow made it economically possible and has therefore sent in their first offer for LowEndBox readers.
LEB HOT SALE
|
FluidRhino LLC, is a Kentucky based hosting provider who launched in June this year. However they do inform us that whilst they’re a pretty new company, they’ve got a “a wealth of experience having worked in the hosting industry for over a decade”. This promotion is valid for the first 15 Signups only. However, if all goes well then let’s hope they send in another offer sometime soon. The plan normally retails for $19.95/month but with this offer the promo code 7LEBFORLIFE reduces it to $7 recurring for the lifetime of your account. As this is their first offer, we’d be interested to hear from you if you’ve had a service with them.
All their virtual servers have RAID10 courtesy of an Adaptec RAID controller and their diskspace is provided via 6 enterprise grade disks. Unfortunately with this offer, additional IP’s are not available. For now there are no backups included, but they will be available for additional purchase at a later date. At present, they’re only accepting payments via PayPal and Credit Cards. They offer a 7 day money back guarantee. Do have a read of their Terms of Service for further information.

Looks like a decent company, but the prices (both on their site, and this offer) are a bit extortionate in my opinion.
Softlayer isn’t cheap.
Only thing that bothers me is the network speed, 10mbit.
Hi Ishaq,
As I just commented to Spencer below, we’ve gone ahead and changed this. The LEB special plan is now 100mbit.
Thanks,
Ryan
Hi Mark!
Our prices are definitely on the higher side, though we are currently working on a revision that’ll bring them down a little. That said, we’re hoping to be competitive on the premium market. All of our hardware is enterprise grade, and we’re certainly not skimping with our choice of datacenter.
That said, I think our offer for LEB is very competitive, we did review previous Xen offers and I think ours competes with some of the best that have been listed here previously.
We obviously cannot compete with OpenVZ offers, but that’s simply down to us being absolutely unwilling to oversell resources!
Thank you for the feed back and we hope you give us a try!
Regards,
Ryan
I found fluidrhino to be a great value and the support and staff top notch. Finally a company that does what they claim, good job.
Why don’t you offer IPv6?
Hi Wouter,
We will be offering IPv6 in the very near future. End of January/early February we expect!
Thanks,
Ryan
May I ask what the delay is?
Any chance of getting the full 100Mbit?
Or maybe like 50Mbit
Hi Spencer,
When we were creating this plan for LEB, we initially decided that we would limit the port speed in order to encourage people to upgrade to our Fluid 768 plan if they required 100mbit.
We now realize that this was probably an error, and as such, I’ve just gone ahead and bumped the LEB special plan up to 100mbit.
I’ve also increased the port speed for the accounts that have signed up using the offer so far, as well.
Thanks Spencer and Ishaq for the feedback!
Thanks,
Ryan
Price is too expensive.
10mbit? What do you guys need anything more for?
Expensive? You on crack or something? Dude, $7/Month for 512MB XEN VPS in Softlayer, yeah, pretty darn cheap dude. Softlayer is a very hard DC to be in to be a profitable LEB provider.
Interesting, do you offer any DDOS protection?
it’s sold out, i didn’t realise there’d be any new offers over the holidays.
Bought a Xen512 temp VPS for dev project with them. Worked great. The VPS was snappy and the connection speed was fast.
I’ve been through my share of crappy VPS services and finally found one I can go to quickly without fear.
I definitely will use them again.
