IBM Continues O2/2 Naming Tradition with QS/2, Its New Gargantuan Quantum Computer

IBMBig Blue has been talking big quantum numbers recently.  According to their recent announcement, they now have 127-qubit processing available for customer use in the IBM Cloud.  They claim that quantum computing at this scale “heralds the point in hardware development where quantum circuits cannot be reliably simulated exactly on a classical computer.”

IBM also revealed Quantum System Two.  I’m assuming they’ll shorten that to QS/2 as a followup to PS/2 and OS/2.  QS/2 will use 433-qubit and then 1,121-qubit processors by 2023.  Google claimed quantum supremacy (for at least one problem) with a system that had a mere 53 qubits.

1,121 is a lot of qubits.  My guess is that QS/2 is not going to be available on IBM Cloud at lowend prices.
