Whilst Prometeus have only been featured four times before; they’re one of the most popular hosts on LowEndBox. To reflect this, they came second in our 2012 Q3 Top Providers poll and recently came first in our Q3 Top providers poll. Salvatore informs me that they’re currently working on providing a cloud setup, however, it’s not cheap, so hopefully this offer will help to raise some finance for it. The first offer, the 1GB ram, was already listed on LowEndTalk, http://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/5994/why-wait-friday-openvz-ssd-1gb-vps-40-off-recurring-and-more, but it is still valid.

The only accepted payment method is Paypal and VAT, at 21%, is charged if you’re an EU citizen/company without a valid VAT ID. TUN/TAP/PPP/FUSE are all supported and services are provided on an Unmanaged basis. Servers will be provisioned automatically, once the payment process is compete. For more information, you can read their Terms of Service by clicking here.

  2. Awesome host in every way. Has the lowest latency to my country (PK) and the uptime/performance is just amazing. I never had to open a single ticket to get attention to certain network or IO or other such issues which is normal with other LEB providers

Signed up for the VZ SSD7, thanks. Hopefully this works out better than ChicagoVPS’s nightmare that I had. Reviews here speak for themselves.

      Replying to myself ftw.
Talk about service. I was having issues with my default Ubuntu install (software issues). They resolved them in less than 10mins from the time I opened the ticket until closed. Even offered a *gasp* refund if I wasn’t happy with their solution (which I was).

ChicagoVPS: you could learn from these guys.

      • Prometeus has great service. We’ve used them for a few months and not nightmares. Quick to resolve any issues.

Indeed! Unlike at my other provider (which I wasn’t happy with and they won’t refund me), this VPS is up and running. My other one (see name in previous comments) has been nothing but trouble. Performance was terrible, so I just wanted to cancel. After server gets deleted they say they won’t refund, or only give $5 back. I say fine I’ll take the $5 just to get away from you. Now I have to wait for a ‘billing manager’. First it was “the billing manager will get back with you shortly”. Hours later I ask for an update and I get “oh the billing manager is out today, try back Monday”.

Prometeus: Keep up the awesome work.

As already fixed on LET: €5.34 are ~ $6.90, not the $5.90.

I can’t tell from the terms and conditions, are IRC connections and bots and general daemons allowed?

IRC is forbidden on the BIZ VPS, but this is not a BIZ VPS, correct?

All other VPS users are not explicitly forbidden from using them.

The shared hosting terms forbid IRC and daemon processes and tunnelling, yet the above description here at lowendbox says “TUN/TAP/PPP/FUSE are all supported” – so does that part of the terms not apply to these VPSes and only to shared web hosting?

    Thanks,
    Simon.

No answer to this? Also do you allow rtorrent/rutorrent? Would be a personal tracker (private, friends only) and not for any infringing of course.

      December 1, 2012 @ 3:08 am | Reply
    • IRC is forbidden on Biz vps, this is an offer on regular vps and irc is fine.
Tunnels are allowed on vps (forbidden only in shared hosting).
Torrents are allowed for legal contents and if configured to not hammer the server :-)

Cool, thanks for your answer. It didn’t dawn on my to just ask this in a ticket instead of here, lol.

One of the most competent provider here. No surprise they just won the ‘top providers’ poll. I’m using their service for about 1 year (ovz, xen, kvm, biz vps, i tried a lot of services) and they are I’d say you get more than what you pay for. Definitely not a fly-by-night operation but a well know provider with own equipment (full racks) that started serving business customers back in the 90’s

If you need a serious vps in Europe this is the deal best money can buy.

I bought a 128MB $15/yr VPS from them and the uptime has been great, only went down once for scheduled maintenance on my node, which they had emailed me prior so I had no problems with

Before then I had a great 150+ day uptime, and it has not gone down since except for me when I do a OS reload or something similar.

Sadly however, I am only supplied with 1 IPv6 address and apparently I am unable to get more due to the fact I am a yearly subscriber, which is a shame because IPv6 are free, but what can you do.

I am on ‘pm32’ node, based in Italy and here are some specs:

    root@bob:~# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 6.40651 s, 168 MB/s

    root@bob:~# sh bench.sh
    CPU model : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 0 @ 2.00GHz
    Number of cores : 1
    CPU frequency : 2001.000 MHz
Total amount of ram : 128 MB
Total amount of swap : 128 MB
    System uptime : 17:17,
    Download speed : (29.6MB/s)
    I/O speed : 131MB/s

Raise a ticket for more IPv6, I use to give them for free, just ask how many and will assign you some.

  17. Will you be adding VZ SSD7 stock any time soon? Will this promo still be valid? Thanks!

    • Maounique:

We have a problem with one of the servers in this promotion with spurious reboots.
While we investigate the opportunity to continue this promotion, it is on halt for the moment at least untill we manage to nail down the container causing this and subsequently the app or exploit involved.

I got one a few hours ago. registered for a year. combined with promo code, it costs only 69$/year.
so i can confirm they do have stock :)

they dont offer free dns server u can use, and node comes with sendmail + bind pre-installed.
other then those, everything is fine.
vps seems to be rock solid and a real fast one.
