VPSCheap.net – $18/Year 128MB OpenVZ VPS in Chicago

VPSCheap.net

Mike from VPSCheap.net sent us an update notice that they have added new stock and with it, annual plans. LEB readers can now get one of these with a 10% discount (first year only). He later let me know that if your happy with your VPS by the end of the year, open a ticket and you can discuss extending the discount for the next year.

I feel the need to once more mention that VPSCheap.net is not not to be confused with dead-pooled VPSCheap.info

    • Florian, your vps was placed on the wrong server originally, we did a quick move on your vps.
The current dd test should give you over 100mb/s anyways:
      1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 9.13096 seconds, 118 MB/s
which is what we consider acceptable for a budget vps.

        • That node did have much higher I/O because it only had very few virtual servers on it which have all been transferred off. You probably wouldn’t have liked the stability issues which we are working on before putting it in production. :)

They accused me of running a TOR relay the second I started using any bandwidth at all! I paid $20, fired up cjdns & peered with a few people, and was humming along using a steady 500kb/s each way. Then, about 2 minutes later I got an email accusing me of running TOR!

I don’t normally review these type of hosting places but I had a rough experience with this one. Their equipment crashed 2 times in a couple of months and we had significant outages. The second time they lost the VPS and the central backup. I kid you not. They were nice to offer a couple months of credit but it was bad. Be careful…

My VPS is running on it’s second year and all I can say is that it is running well. The support is kind and the response times are fast. After looking to my old tickets the longest wait time was 5 hours.
They even asked me for a prefered day and time as they planned the move my vps to another host.
One of few vps hosts I am recommending.

Not recommended. VPSCheap is unreliable host, after few months i lost all data i had on my VPS (other users also). VPS was down for few days, and there was no notifications at all from VPSCheap. Cheap and bad, my conclusion.
