After listing 6 new providers yesterday, I’ll just do one that has been regularly featured here today. 123Systems is currently doing a special offer for their Lin-512MB package at the moment. $6 on their VPS hosting page (as featured last time), but $4.95/month if you sign up using this link. You get
- 512MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory
- 20GB storage
- 1TB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
Check previous offers on people’s reviews of 123Systems. Andrew has been running it for as long as I can remember. Servers in Dallas TX with Limestone Networks — same data center as recently troubled HostRail. I wonder whether they might also be affected by the increase of IP pricing.

I have a similar experience with the download speeds as well. I have a vps with them and while the box itself is really good (stable a very fast), the d/l speeds are not satisfactory, even for a low end provider. I raised the issue via ticket last week but thus far nothing has improved. I hope they will get this fixed soon. Otherwise, very good box.
There is a large discussion about HostRail at WHT. Other providers on LSN have stated no increase, and HostRail also stopped paying another provider that they hosted with.

Nice speeds, not getting the same on mine:
Brent,
If you are not satisfied with 9.30 MB/s then please open a ticket, All virtual servers have the ability to obtain GigE performance.

LEA,
Our prices were never increased by limestone (Servers or Subnets). HostRail owed limestone upward of $17,000 according to the CEO of HostRail. So I’m not entirely sure if Limestone even increased prices or if the owner was trying to get the money to pay their bills in all of their server locations (They were shutdown at Private layer for the same reason.)
But to answer the question, No we have not had any price increases at Limestone.
I think LEA was just being sarcastic.
123systems has been offering decent services. BTW, are the $10/y plans going to restock soon?
Thanks,
CEO of Go account
Go,
We were actually going to release those later this evening or early in the morning.
-Andrew
Great news :)
How about Fremont, CA? I see the coming soon status on your WHT signature for a very long time @_@
Giang
As you mention pricing, I hope you won’t mind a quick question.
I’m well aware that I’ve no clue on the hosting company side of things, but your pricing scheme is a bit puzzling for me from the customer perspective.
I’d get 192/384MB RAM and 500GB transfer with 10GB storage for $15/year and
512/1024MB RAM with 1000GB transfer and 20GB storage for $43/year, but if I order
256/512MB RAM, 500GB transfer, 10GB storage, I’d pay $36/year.
Why does the 256 package require that much money per RAM/transfer/storage compared to the other two?
I want the $15/y vps, but it’s already out of stock.. when it’ll be restocked ?
Use bitcoin as payment method? :)
Anon,
I honestly don’t think we are going to venture down that avenue. After LEA posted the other provider that utilizes Bitcoin, I did some research on it and it’s really not something we need or want.
We do however accept the following:
2Checkout/Paypal
Moneybookers
AlertPay/Credit Card
-Andrew
well, you might give it a second consideration – btc = no middleman that eats money(well except those that cash BTC out, but 0.3% is still much cheaper than gaypal – also accepting btc solves the problem with paypal-disputers.
@Andrew — I’m pretty sure that comment was sarcasm… ;) You know who “Anonymous” is right?
Brennan,
I am not very active on LEB as far as blog comments go, So I honestly have no clue who that is. Hopefully you can shed some light on that for me? :)
-Andrew
Of course :P
Anonymous, LulzSec, #AntiSec… Targeting corrupt governments and businesses by hacking and distributing leaked information. Look ’em up.
Pretty sure the user “Anon” isn’t the group “Anonymous” lol.
Just ordered now actually, instant setup. So far so good, will post in the future.
I like it, I’m glad they use SolusVM, I sometimes get a bit angry when I see people using HyperVM to control your VPS, it’s just old and SolusVM is much cleaner. You have to manually install Kloxo, not a huge issue they have it in their knowledgebase except for lazier people (me of course).
All so good, very good price for this.
$10/year account from a few months ago:
No IPv6 support is somewhat of a disadvantage, and support can sometimes be abrupt and borderline rude at other times (tickets closed with no response). Well worth it for the money spent, though.
$15/year plan for over a month,
Not really good IO, slow support. Otherwise, so far so good.
Recommended.
I have purchased a $10/year budget VPS from 123systems. In fact, I can not install neither LNMP nor openvpn (My own business?). And I have no idea how to deal with it now…
VMVPS,
If you would like, You can always open an ticket and they will provide you with an guide and/or help you troubleshoot the errors you are having.
-Andrew
Andrew, any chance to install Kloxo HIB in the solus?
It only takes 20mb, so $10/yr plan will work fine.
I once asked support, but refused. Don’t understand why.
You can install it directly. On a 128 mb system you need to change something though.
disable the fastest mirror:
# sed -i ‘s/enabled\=1/enabled\=0/’ /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/fastestmirror.conf
Limit memory:
# ulimit -s 128
You can upgrade the system:
yum -y install yum-utils
yum -y install make
yum -y upgrade
Or directly install Kloxo:
# setenforce 0
# wget http://download.lxlabs.com/download/kloxo/production/kloxo-install-master.sh
# sh ./kloxo-install-master.sh
Follow the on-screen instruction and your system will be installed in minutes.
Sometimes in a low memory (especially when a box is oversold), should you want to upgrade the OS, you have to do it partially e.g.:
# yum -y upgrade apr apr-util audit-libs audit-libs-python authconfig bind-libs
openvpn needs a tun/tap kernel module – these are not quite standard on vps systems. guess you’ll need to open a ticket for that(although I seriously liked that if more providers included tun/tap networking as a default on their hypervisor)
does IPV6, pptp openvpn Supported
Long time ago, I have asked 123systems.. it seems that they don’t support pptp vpn.. :(
Very few OpenVZ providers offer PPTP (BuyVM are the only one I know of who do) for PPTP usually I go with KVM or XEN providers, but OpenVPN is more secure anyway, and that will work fine on OpenVZ you just need to ask for tun to be enabled.
AlienVPS also offer PPTP.
But does it actually work? I’ve seen lots of providers claim to offer it and don’t have a clue :)
Francisco
PPTP did work on HostRail..
Also works on SemoWeb and ChicagoVPS.. :)
I think many OpenVZ providers offer PPTP, but very few of them has mppe enabled.
Ordered one server for testing, our Transaction #: 4485041808 – Order Number: 9233261786.
Test IPv6, please?
As far as I know, they don’t have IPv6 yet.
Just tried of these providers, although only take shared hosting.
Want to see first whether support is good or not.
Since hostrail run away and I lost my data on shared hosting also with some vps on there.
If the support is satisfactory I will take also from the vps here.
I just receive my new box
This is my experience with 123Systems: http://gridalo.blogspot.com/2011/06/123systemsnet-my-experience.html
Read it carefully before wasting money and time.
Hmm, doesn’t seem very fair.
Maybe Andrew from 123 can provide us with his viewpoint on this ?
I have several boxes with them. And yes, if I am honest, their support isn’t very friendly. Also, like Bazza, I think your experience isn’t fair.
Why do you think he does not reply? This is my experience, you can trust it or not!
Thank you for posting this, Matteo. It servers as a strong warning.
Superb over-seller! Be careful.
Hello! I have ordered 15$ yearly vps but got maxmind error! Please review my order(9281716256)! Thanks
LOL u got pwnt!
Haha, j/k I like your gravatar
support is slow I think
support is not slow, there is no support.
I have to disagree, I had a question regarding MySQL memory usage (then I saw it was Apache). But the support answered within 5 minutes each reply I had, I think their support is fast.
I did receive my box with-in 5 mints, and in the same time a respond on my ticket.
I think they are not bad guys.
My link here is hosted at 123ystem.
It is fast enough from where I am from (Jakarta). I don’t know whether it is also fast enough from other places.
Yo guys! The $10/year is only 18 more!

How about the io of your box?
I m asking because mine is only 24M/s.
$15/year
536870912 bytes (537 MB) copied, 21.2291 seconds, 25.3 MB/s
$36/year
536870912 bytes (537 MB) copied, 7.97334 seconds, 67.3 MB/s
Thanks,
the higher in price, ther better :P, will try the 512 one.
Having tried and absolutely agreed with @vRozenSch00n,
123systems Network connection speed is amazing; all my 123systems boxes in Dallas perform at 3.2MB/s – 6.2MB/s to Asia connections although the DC is inland. $36/year should be a better choice than $10-$15/year plans. However, all my boxes now perform at about 45MB/s-67MB/s. That is so good to my needs.
Recommended! :)
It’s good enough for a $15/year, compared to $2~$7/mo shared hosting :)
I recieved my 15$/year vps.
Support so fast for enable tun/tap in 2 min!
Just curious, why 123systems.net is not offering Ubuntu 10.04LTS images ?
I see 8.04 to 9.10 (all obsolete except 8.04LTS).
They do – I have the option to reinstall Ubuntu 10.04 from my control panel..
Thanks, still waiting for the control panel to activate (about 15minutes after ordering), maybe I have to log in with e-mail instead of username or do something else?
Otherwise, very pleased with the $15/year offering, SSH activated instantly after ordering.
Speeds from Europe are great.
On the yearly special – Very nice :P
@123Systems-Andrew
please take a look at my ticket #607987.
thanks.
Some stats for a VPS with these guys :)
http://stats.pingdom.com/p1gutt1k0itz/372018
LOL just one day? lol :D
Only had the box for a day – Still some nice stats about ping times. And obviously as time progresses more data in uptime will become available?
One of the other comments is for 2 days. :)
Hey, in a few months, we’ll have some decent data as long as Ixape keep up the accounts.
I plan on keeping the one with VooServers, BurstNET and 123Systems at the moment :)
And then Ixape stopped sharing their pingdom data xD
Sorry – The link changed due to me restarting the counter as some downtime was suffered to fault of my own. (I rebooted it.) Uptime has been good though :)
Spoiler, according with their shopping cart, it seems they will offer VPS in Chicago :D
Yes it is for $20/year and $40/year :)
But they are available now? Because I didn’t see nothing in WHT or any e-mail announcement
I plan to ask for my Dallas to be transferred to Chicago for a much better ping difference, and I wonder if they’ll do it.
@David
I guess no.
cool, that’s what i am waiting for,
I have one in Dallas, works great, no downtime and no problem.
go 123systems :)
I had over 100 days uptime, but it rebooted 5 days ago. :(
@vRozenSch00n could you post the links you used for the 20 and 40 promo.
Thanks.
Here is the link: https://123systems.net/billing/cart.php?gid=18
Can anyone explain the difference between ‘Fair Share CPU’ and 2vCPU terms used at 123systems?
Thanks in advance.
I guess you can access to all the cores in fair share, but you will be throttled if needed for other containers. And “2vCPU” means that you have access to 2 cores just for you (and throttled to 50% in my experience with them in the $15/y plans).
Thanks, Yomero,
I think you’re right. These twos may provide only 1 core in strict concurrence. Otherwise, the former seems to have more cores than the latter.
Are they publicly available, or restricted to special customers (as some other plans)?
Do you have any clue how long the offer is going to last?
Well, I think it’s public but maybe not advertised as many of the user keeps coming back to look for a $10 – $15/year.
In my case, I was looking for a $15/year stock but I noticed that the menu has changed. No more link to VPS reseller but a new link to Dallas offer is there. So, I just click and found the $20/year stock.
So, you ordered the plan and it worked out for you?
Would you mind to provide how the box performs (and a test IP)?
Yeah men, do you got one? Post the classic benchs/specs here!!! Maybe I will get one soon too :D
me too,
just look for one more west coast for my free project. 20bucks or so should be fine.
Test IP for VPS Chicago : 184.154.13.2
I had it from ticket.
Interesting, is SingleHop
@Hien,
My concern is how fast the box is to your country.
Did you make any up/down loading tesing from your location to the Chicago one of yours?
@tinyray: It’s test IP, 123systems staff provide me! I didn’t got any Chicago box yet. Chicago VPS seems near my country (Vietnam) than my current Dallas VPS but ping is higher!
Services from 123systems is good! Support is fast! I got my VPS with them last week. And here is my VPS uptime: http://stats.pingdom.com/1myj6rityj1e/373061
@Hien,
I did a test using my box in Dallas,
Not bad,
However, it should be better with west coast vps.
Waiting for buyVM, :)
@tinyray: yes, west coast is better because it has strong route to Asia, only 10 hops from me can reach buyVM ;)
So, anyone has a Chicago box than can post a cpuinfo? :P

Rhanks man, is the $20 USD according to your last post. 2 cores, seems reasonable.
LOL, Thanks*
123Systems is so cool to keep stocking frequently.
I have one with them without any problem.
I just hope that they will have west coast stock soon.
Well, Chicago/Dallas is a good location to Asia, I think it adds just like 30-40 ms
not really because some guys in Singapore said that they keep jumping a lot each time they want to reach my box in Dallas.
Hmmm, yeah, according to justping is about 230 ms to Singapore. Not so bad IMHO. I can do some FPS gaming with that pings :P
It took 339 ms to reach my box at Dallas!
Just like to leave some praise for this company.
Got a 128MB plan with 5GB disk space and 250GB bandwidth on 1Gbps for $15 annually. I’ve requested both extra RAM and disk space for 24 hours and have asked to be invoiced for it – Both times I’ve been given these resources free.
Is it for free permanently? If so I suspect it would be sold out in no time haha :)
I assume not, according to the post for a 24-hour period, I’m sure they can lend you some resources for a day if you requested — they’re a absolute kind company.
Nope – Just needed it to tar the whole systems.
Ha, for some reason I did not see the words “for 24 hours”, must be blind recently :)
@96MB
They are temporary resources for client’s who are having issues completing tasking because they do not have the required resources (EG: backups, system updates, etc).
If you do not require permanent resources then we are most certainly not going to charge you for using extra ram or disk space for a few hours to complete the task at hand.
-Andrew
That is really nice of you guys, thanks Andrew for the explanation.
123systems’ SolusVM looks like down. Anyone have this problem?
Yep is down
Yup – Seems like it is down :(
I opened ticket an hour ago and waiting for answer :(
SolusVM is online for me now.
Same – Just managed to login :)
Yup, It’s back!
Just awaiting a support reply for something now. However I can imagine they’ve been in-outdated of tickets along the lines of ‘SolusVM won’t work..’ :(
Still no answer. For me, only few first tickets is fast. You get what you paid :D
Hmmm, I told you… Well, no, but some people says that this is the way how this company works. For me has been slow, and unfriendly (not aggressive, I can0t find the right word)
To be fair my ticket submissions haven’t exactly been mission critical.. Just things like is IPv6 available? So speed isn’t required there..
All of my tickets (a total of two) have been responded in a professional timely manner, within 10 minutes on the first one and 20 on the second one, neither were high demand too.
@Ixape: They not support ipv6 at this time. Use tunnelbroker for ipv6.
@Hien & Ixape
We have IPV6 addresses ( http://whois.arin.net/rest/net/NET6-2607-FF68-100-11-1.html ) however not all of our nodes are IPV6 compatible, Once I get the time to write up a script and run them on the nodes, We will begin assigning IPV6 addresses to [all] container’s in the Dallas area. Although once this has been completed, IPV6 addresses will be assigned automatically on new signups.
I’m hoping to get this done by the time our next quarterly update comes up.
-Andrew
Good news for ipv6 support! I hope to get ipv6 on my dallas box beforce end of year.
Anyone got a systems with these guys in Dallas that is currently down?
My VPS in Dallas is working fine.
What node are you on?
I’m on VZ21DLTX
Works fine (http://stats.pingdom.com/1myj6rityj1e/373061) . I’m on VZ61DLTX
Same with me. node : VZ40DLTX
Bought a yearly VPS a few days ago, ordering process went smooth
When I reinstalled Ubuntu 10.4 on it and tried to boot it, it stays offline…
Made support ticket, but no reaction so far
Great VPS, got a Linux-192-Yearly-Special for $15 (11.50 Euros) annual, located in Dallas
Anybody else have a Dallas VPS with them and is currently offline? I made a ticket almost 6 hours ago but I’ve yet to receive a response.
I received one like 24 hours later, with an “I will look at it” and the ticket itself got closed without response. And the VPS fixed itself :| (I/O issues, classic).
Oh and btw all my boxes are working fine.
My box with them on VZ61DLTX has been fine as-well.
Horrible I/O though.
Same node with me, someone running rapidleech on this node :-)
ISn’t really slow, imho. Perfectly usable I think
I’m on node VZ60DLTX, it came up a little bit after 12:00 AM EST, and is still up now. It was almost a 20 hour downtime, and my ticket never got a response.
Submitted a ticket about disk I/O on a node – No reply after hours. Requested a refund in the same ticket and found no reply still – But a notice from PayPal/2CO saying the payment had been refunded and the server was terminated.
You refund because slow disk I/0 ? It seem enough for me to run both dns server and webserver. I’m still happy customer.
Probably on different nodes. I spent half hour trying to TAR some small files because of bad disk I/O.
Don’t expect anything in the way of support from these guys. i bought a vps with cpanel from them. Cpanel’s been unlicensed for 12 days and counting. no response to support tickets at all. avoid them at all cost unless you just need a cheap development server.
Any update ?
As was posted before, http://gridalo.blogspot.com/2011/06/123systemsnet-my-experience.html
Good luck!
My box goes down almost 30mins :( Ticket created, waiting…
Got response, my is up now after 1h 10m down time !
What was the issue?
They said they’re working on it. No said what problem. Not me, many problem on WHT today http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?p=7607995
My VPS was down again, still down, over 5h :(
My 123systems VPS @ Dallas on node VZ47DLTX
22:40:35 up 30 days, 7:46, 4 users, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
Yes, I uptime 32days and begin down today http://stats.pingdom.com/1myj6rityj1e/373061
They lost all data on my VPS and did not even give me the same IP on the replacement VPS.
Move to another node, lost all my data but it’s not important data. They give me 25$ credit and 1 year service extend! Seem ok..I have rebuild vps again!
we dont expect to have that kind of money, do we?
After waiting for more than 12 hours, vps was online, different IP address, they gave me a new node, lost lots of data because of their “hardware” problem, i do not recommend them for anything, everything is unprofessional.
Can one of you maybe shine some light upon this for me? My old server is online but when I signed into my SolusVM, I have a completely different IP but I can SSH to both, so confusing.
Open ticket!
Every month I have a downtime of all my 3 VPS. When querying the support you will get an answer stating “It will be working shortly”. This “shortly” seems to be defined as “between 12 and 48 hours”.
Therefore: The VPS are completely fine for private usage if you are fine with a few downtimes. In this case, the price-service relation is quite ok.
Not recommend anymore with this guy (123systems). Slow support, delays support. Lost data. Close ticket without reply!
http://123systems.net/ is off! broken? the new hostrail?
working fine for me
I recently feel 123systems some kind of unprofessional. sorry but i have to.
customers have the right of raising the questions, and the sellers also have the right of answering NO.
anyway, answers are always needed.
They always no answer ticket even leave one word, always close ticket without answer. I think this company should change their business name to “123Silence”.
Yeah, exactly :)
Only the guy named “Gary S” is nice support. Other is….
I even have no chance to know their names. :)-

Was expecting faster I/O too but it is midrange at least:
root@d4m1r:~# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync && rm -f test
16384+0 records in
16384+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 24.6204 s, 43.6 MB/s
Although latency isn’t the best, network speed is always quick:
root@d4m1r:~# wget http://cachefly.cachefly.net/100mb.test
