LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

SecureDragon – $1.99/month or $9.99/Year 64MB OpenVZ VPS and more in 9 US locations

SecureDragon

This is another post where the offers is not from our ticketing system. Maarten gave me the opportunity to pick a host I would like to feature. It is my pleasure to write about the very first host I tried in LEB – Secure Dragon.

I was using a VPS for a very long time already, but due to a sudden budget constraint, I needed a cheaper alternative to what I was using back then. My research made me discover LowEndBox. It was a surprise to me that a VPS service can be bought under $7 dollars. At such prices, I felt that I will get what I am paying for, but I was hoping to find a gem where quality service can be had at truly amazing prices.

I read through a lot of post in LowEndBox and reviews at 96MB, and I was very impressed with what was written about Secure Dragon and KuJoe. I tried their services, and indeed they were very good. Even when I have no current service with them, I am fairly confident that they are still a quality provider today.

Here are some offers I found from their website. Note that their regular prices are already very good and competitive.

    Wow, looks nice!

    – Do you have PPP support for PPTP private proxies ?
    – Do you use SolusVM as a panel ?
    – Is the 128Mb and the 256Mb the same ?

    Thank you!

    October 17, 2015 @ 11:33 am | Reply
    • 1) Yes, you can enable the module inside Wyvern.
      2) No, we use a custom control panel that blows SolusVM out of the water (Wyvern as mentioned in the post).
      3) No, there was an error on the pricing in the post (256MB is $2.99/month or $24.99/year).

        Cool! Thanks for your reply.

I have been checking all the FAQ about the panel, looks cool. Just one question: Is there a way to connect by API or something ? I’m looking for buying several VPS and I need to check with API the bandwidth usage, etc…

        Thanks!

        October 18, 2015 @ 3:25 pm | Reply
        • Yes we have an API for checking bandwidth remotely (it will have more features in the future but for now it just report bandwidth usage).

          • I agree with you that a man could wear this. In fact, it’s possibly a little too mansluice-leaning for me, but it is certainly a really beautiful fragrance. One of those that I appreciate a lot, even though I rarely wear it.

“Verify VPS Confirm that you understand that this is not a web hosting plan, no DDOS protection is offered with this service, and that this is an unmanaged service.”
Does this mean that I can still put up a wordpress site but itll be unprotected?

Ask yourself: do you know what SSH and nginx are and how to use them? If not, then a virtual private server will be useless for you, and you should opt for a web hosting plan instead. SecureDragon helpfully includes that message to prevent you from making a bad decision.

          October 24, 2015 @ 4:36 am | Reply
        • You can use your VPS for hosting a WordPress website but don’t order it expecting a web server to be installed and configured by default. You will need to install the webserver, configure it, install WordPress, configure it, and manage it yourself because we will offer no assistance for any third party software.

    • Technically we won’t know what you’re running over an encrypted VPN connection unless you or somebody else tells us and if that somebody else tells us in the form of a DMCA then you’ll want to find another provider.

  12. I endorse SecureDragon as the best low cost OpenVZ provider.

    * Machine is stable. My website is down less than 10 minutes per month, and in most cases it’s my fault.
    * Customer service is fast. First response to a ticket is usually within 3 hours, and most problems can be fixed within 3 days. With other providers, you may not see the first response until 2 business days later, let alone the resolution.
    * Wyvern control panel is developed by Joe, the owner of this provider. Features can be added as necessary (I requested a few features and they become available after 1 month), without waiting for SolusVM.

I can’t say enough good things about this provider. I have been with them since March of ’13 and truthfully cannot recall any unannounced or unplanned downtime. I’ve been through 2 server migrations with them and everything went as smooth as could be. Clear dates and times that were indeed met, full communication, transparency…everything you would hope/expect from a professional company. These guys just get it. Easily in my Top 3 of all providers. You won’t be disappointed.
