Here is a new LowEndBox-special from SemoWeb‘ Dustin. OpenVZ VPS for $3/month or $30/year, using this ordering link. “Budget VPS – LEB256” package comes with
- 256MB guaranteed/768MB burstable memory
- 15GB storage
- 150GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
SemoWeb has been selling their own services in Orlando with HostDime since early this year, however this offer is with Limestone Networks in Dallas TX. It could be reselling 123Systems‘ packages again, although the test IP (74.63.214.130) has a /25 with WHOIS goes to SemoWeb. They are turning 3 years old this month.

Dustin, are you reselling 123 again?
(1) They got a /25 IP addresses from Limestone, and (2) this plan does look a bit different from 123Systems’. Although we still need Dustin to confirm.
I want this offer in Florida =P
Open a ticket with our sales department and we will see what we can do ;)
Thanks!
Well, seeing your pricing in your Hostdime packages, maybe I will consider the standard 256 plan (also, more HD and BW). But the 768 burst is VERY attractive :P
Also, I am interested in the posibility of returning with your $21 yearly plan =)
Yomero,
The $21/Year plan is completely sold out, we wont be stocking that plan any time soon.
If you have any other questions let me know I will be sure to answer them.
Hello,
To confirm we no longer resell them nor any one us. We do everything directly with Hostdime and Limestone.
We are going directly through Limestone Networks!
This special is with our Dallas location.
Let me know if any one has any other questions.
Nor anyone else* Sorry couldn’t edit it excuse my typo.
I love semoweb – Dustin is an ace guy. Recommend to anyone :)
how long have you been with them? can you share us your ip and test file :)
I’m on shared hosting in Orlando – pretty irrelevant – but the company and guys are all the same no matter the product IMO.
Yeah I agree with Jason.
Been with Semo for about three months now. Always works fine. IO can be a tiny bit slow (no biggie) sometimes, but other than that perfect.
Thanks for the kind words :D
I just bought a vps with these guys and so far so good. Support has been responsive and I would recommend them.
I am pretty much maxing out the line
and everything is running smoothly! Smoother than my vps from 123systems .
Keep up the great work Semo Web. I will be your customer for a long time to come .
Best,
Amber
Amber,
Thank you for the kind words.
Hi,
I can verify that semoweb is no longer reselling our service(s). He has his own dedicated servers with whichever company he pleases to do business with.
-Andrew
I can testify for the rock-solid stability of Semoweb. As a trial run of offloading things from our main server, I moved our DNS system to a Semoweb VPS.
08:36:52 up 39 days, 14:46, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
Nothing but good things to say about them!
Damian,
Thank you for the kind words we will continue to provide awesome service.
Right off the bat, I can tell it’s going to be a fun ride with Semoweb. Their welcome email has my password in plaintext. That’s a big no no from a security standpoint. And judging from their response to me pointing this out, they don’t see it as a problem. So I guess I’ll keep looking for a VPS provider that takes security seriously.
Hello,
Sorry it seems like you have not purchased hosting much, this is a typical procedure for the vps passwords to be emailed. With all our services passwords are emailed to clients and about 99.9% of hosting companies do this.
Go purchase a few more accounts else where you will see its the same exact way.
Anyhow best of luck!
Pretty much every software as well as hosting provider sends their original password out in plaintext along with a note to change it asap. Some softwares even require it and won’t allow you to do anything else until you do. (Digital Point just made me do this as I haven’t been back over there in almost a year so that’s why I;m thinking about it.)
This comment kind of reminds me of the issue with Network Solutions had with WordPress and how it stores it’s passwords in plaintext on the server. There’s no real way around it.
Rather have a client get their required information in the simplest method possible and be able to access their account without any problems. Get them in and going asap. Then we can worry about security. After they change their password of course. ;)
DrMike,
After speaking with our billing department I have found that this user requested a refund and I looked into it further, He signed up telling us how its so unsecure and we don’t care and he doesn’t like doing business with such people who don’t care etc…… but I think what ticked him off was he offered his security service and we kindly declined as our procedures are common and the client can always change the password immediately they are not forced to stay with the generated password.
“as our procedures are common and the client can always change the password immediately”
It is common, almost every VPS provider uses these insecure methods. But I have changed quite a few VPS providers to adopt a more secure approach.
providerservice.com
Fitvps
ramhost
and many others by my constant ranting. Though I don’t cancel my VPS if the welcome email contains my password as it usually does. You can expect my rant too when I sign up with you.
And then how you can send a password without being int plain text? o_O
Maybe in a textfile compressed with.. a password? LOLOLOL
It is actually possible to not send clear text password as emails.
Why can’t the system just send the client an email that the password is ready to be retrieved, after payment has been verified. After the client logs into the client portal via HTTPS, plain text password is stored in a message, which can then be deleted.
The issue here is actually NOT about storing the plain text passwords, but transmitting the plain text password to a 3rd party system, through network infrastructure that is not wholly controlled by the provider, without any encryption.
I have noticed that in most places that take security seriously, your welcome email contains your username and that’s it. If you forget your password, you get a link sent to your email address which takes you to an SSL protected web page so that you can change your password. The password is NEVER sent over a non-SSL connection, nor is it ever sent to your email address. I never got ticked off at Semoweb nor did I offer them any “services”. I just made an offhand comment that if they wanted help with security, to let me know. Regardless of what they want to think, I am not in the habit of giving money to ANY company that has such a flippant attitude toward security. =) I got my refund, I found a host that doesn’t send user passwords over unencrypted connections, and I’m happy now.
Mind you share who that is, I never came across a provider that does except fdcservers.
I doubt there’s one budget vps provider doing that but what makes you think this gives you an image that they don’t take security seriously? Just change the password after it’s delivered. Bam. Was that so hard?
Hello,
Glad your happy with your new host do take in mind this is quite standard with WHMCS and as mentioned you are not forced to keep the generated password so it should be such a big deal IMHO.
Anyhow best of luck.
@PenguinTux Portfast.co.uk does, not exactly LEB though. This was my vps welcome email:
Hi,
Your new virtual server is now being configured.
You will be able to log in to it via SSH using the IP address xx.xx.xx.xx,
user name “root” and the password you provided.
Statistics and other information are available at:
https://www.portfast.co.uk/xx/xx/xxx.xx.xx
Thanks,
The Portfast team.
Agreed 100%. It doesn’t matter how many other hosts do this, it still is a horrible practice. A VPS I ordered recently got compromised because the provider emailed the password in clear text. I wasn’t sitting around waiting for them to provision it (they were slow and it was the weekend), and by the time I got to it, the password was already changed and the server was sending out massive spam. The host confirmed it was being accessed from a Russian IP. The only way they could have gotten in was through the welcome email.
Just because the guy who wrote the software was clueless about security, doesn’t mean the whole industry should play along.
And why are they being stored in plain text anyway? They should be hashed and salted. Or perhaps, since it’s a VPS, they shouldn’t be stored at all.
The software is flawed as written and you ought to change the email template, a trivial task. We know what the password is since we typed it in; no need to broadcast it to the world.
Another option is to import our id_dsa.pub into authorized_keys on the host while completely disabling ssh to the vps until we can connect and set it up to our liking. There are so many options here, there’s just no excuse for emailing passwords.
@Ryan: I don’t see how it’s your VPS provider’s fault that your email account was compromised.
@NickM – it wasn’t. The password was sent in the clear across ~20 hops. Someone was logging traffic, sniffing for passwords.
I 100% agree. Another solution is to just have the user set the password when they sign up (over an encrypted connection, of course).
The weird thing is, some providers will have you set your password when you sign up, and then email that password back to you. I’ve never understood that.
Its default procedure with WHMCS, you can always change your password via ssh
passwd” Or if your worried about your client area you can do it from there as well..
Hi,
Well its come my one month with Semoweb. I have a small Orlando vps.
The live chat rep is very friendly and helpful- whenever I need any help they are very patient and polite :)
I have only good thing to say about Semoweb, and I will purchase my second vps in Dallas tomorrow.
Be sure to keep on keeping on Semo web.
Hello,
Thank you so much for the kind words.
Just purchased from semoweb within the last hour, Due to my major dissapointment with curvehost, Instant VPS deployment, Nice stable node, Upon looking in solusvm everything is correct with a nice template for Host In A Box along your typical cPanel/WHM shame theirs no template for cPanel DNS ONLY within solusvm, However I will be sending a ticket to see if this can added to the list.
/Untill next time, Happy Nodes!
Defiantly just get in touch with us we will see what we can do, also welcome aboard and enjoy the vps as it will always be stable :)
Ticket sent :)
I must say that they are really pro. The best VPS provider :) I already got one
Ko Min,
Welcome aboard, we will continue to do our best.
Dustin and his team run a tight ship over there. I would recommend :)
Penguin,
Thanks :D
My VPS with Semoweb outperforms any other provier I’ve been with. A+ in my book.
Chris,
Thank you for the kind words :)
I picked up a VPS with Semoweb.com two weeks ago in Orlando, FL location.
I never had any downtime yet, and disk I/O and netwrk speed seems to be much better than any VPS I have received (and believe me, I tried them, such as 123systems and veVPS and Burstnet).
Keep up the great work guys. At the end of month I am planning to cancel all my VPS with other providers and start moving them to Semoweb. I am VERY impressed with the level of service they are providing. Special Thanks to Rob from support for helping me in my latest ticket :P
Kevin,
Thank you for the kind words, Welcome aboard.
PenguinTux,
Thank you for the kind words :)
Hello!
I have been with Semoweb for one year for shared hosting, and now I decided to upgrade to VPS. The person on the phone (Dustin) was very helpful and held my hand every second of the way.
Would I recommend this service? Absolutely! Keep up the good work.
Edward
Edward,
Thank you for the awesome feed back.
Keep us updated.
I have ordered some hours ago n_n
My vps was deployed automatically at Dallas, but after a ticket is working in florida =)
Maybe I have some cpu performance issues
http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/394260
(access to 4 cores with full frequency), but I will wait to see how the things work in the next days.
the people at support is nice n_n
Yomero,
Welcome aboard, keep us updated :)
Ordered one around a week ago on one of their bigger plans. I got put in Florida but location wasn’t a concern. ;) Network is good, performance is good and i’m happy for the price.
Jamie,
Awesome feed back thanks!
I wonder if they are owned/affiliated with BURSTNET as their payment system appears to be exactly the same as utilized by BURSTNET. Who cares, I guess, as they offer a more economical entry level plan than is offered directly from BURSTNET.
Many web hosts use it. It’s called WHMCS. Just because they use the same billing system doesn’t mean they’re affiliated ;-)
We are no way affiliated with BURSTNET, PenguinTux hit the bulls eye it is indeed WHMCS.
I just ordered a VPS with semoweb in Dallas everything was instantly deployed and now I’m running my tests :)
Support is very nice and friendly.
Martin,
Welcome aboard :)
Salam dears i got vps with semoweb and works good.
gr8 job!!!!
Adbul,
Welcome aboard. Enjoy your stay.
Sick of so much fake reviews here!
Same Here!! :( I think they should put paypal alter payment.
sorry I wrongly read fake & fraud :) Sorry :) Actually I suppose semoweb is a good provider.
Hello,
Suppose?
You did mention you had ordered one you should be able to openly speak about it.
=================
Ko Min:
I must say that they are really pro. The best VPS provider :) I already got one
Sorry Type Error…….
I support or agree that You guys are good providers. Really Nice!!!
Btw, Can I have another discount ? :)
Just kidding :P
Ko Min,
No problem, We have other vps located on http://semoweb.com/vps.html :-P
please don’t worry. I’m analyzing my sites’ traffic. If I need, I will definitely buy only from you. :)
Ko Min,
Sounds great! :)
I Just finished adding some more HDD & bandwidth. Cheer!!! very nice to be your guys’ customer. :)
Ko Min,
Awesome, its been a pleasure working with you and thank you for the opportunity.
I don’t know about “fake reviews,” BUT what I can say is that I just signed-up for a SEMO VPS and I was very impressed with it being setup within a couple of minutes, the nice control panel features and, perhaps most important of all, a LOT of server for the buck.
I have been using dedicated and VPS servers for over a decade, and this is not a fake review.
Bill Webb,
Thank for you for the kind words :)
Update
I have ordered the lowest plan in Florida.
After some cpu issues about cpu burning (xD) and throttling, now I have a very fast VPS, I hope it will continue that way. Maybe I will upgrade my plan later.
Dustin has been very nice, also very professional, telling me about the root of the problem with the datacenter mails.
Keep the good job!
Yomero,
Thank you for your continued trust and loyalty, let us know if you need anything else we will be here for you!
Yes I have submitted a ticket some minutes ago xD
ty
Yomero,
Please provide me with a ticket number if you need any help if it hasn’t been yet answered.
Thanks, has been fixed now.
(Was about misconfigured time)
Yomero,
Ok thanks for the update, glad it was resolved.
I have ordered this plan

Keep the good job!
Jhon H,

I come from china!! very less post reply!
But this plan is very cheap and good!
Jhon,
Thank you for the update, please let us know if you need anything else and its great to hear that you all are happy!.
Which out of Florida or Dallas would offer better pings to Australia?
Orlando Florida – 72.29.68.197
Dallas Texas – 74.63.214.130
Please note currently all orders are being provisioned in Dallas so if you order and intended for it to be in Orlando simply submit a ticket requesting termination of Dallas and provisioning in Orlando Florida.
Hi, I purchase vps with semoweb, everything good ! I been thinking about goin with them from some time but I missed the free ip deal on twitter, so now im here cos semoweb run other freebie.
Khuzaymah,
Welcome aboard. Keep us updated.
It seems you have included the new WHM module. Is easy and fast to manage your VPS with this new feature. Thanks! But the graphs are not working yet (at least for me)
I heard it was a bug from several providers and that SolusVM are working on it.
It is a bug we are working on with SolusVm there response time is kind of slow :-p We are defiantly working on it :)
Well I imagine their support queue is probably backed up because of the bug. ;)
The bud is now fixed :D
Yes people were anxious so we worked quickly as possible :-P
Bug* Typo’s.. Let us know if you face any issues its still in Beta.
I ordered this plan, submitted a ticket to be moved on Florida, works great now!
Hello,
Welcome aboard :)
Ordered this VPS an hour ago.. I’ve been searching LowEndBox for a budget VPS for some time now and finally chose this one :) Really liked that it was up and running in just a matter of minutes :) Now I just have to wait for them to enable TUN/TAP…
Franky,
Welcome aboard :)
My VPS is still going strong. No downtime yet and still outperforming all other VPS providers I have been with.
Highly recommended.
BTW- Is image hosting allowed on my VPS, semo? I plan on starting a website for our family to view and upload pictures.
Thanks for any pointers.
Pman,
I’m glad everything is going well we will continue to do our best.
Image hosting is allowed on your vps long as the content is legal.
Have order one….
Have posted a ticket (#967389), still no respond for more than 12 hours now.. :(
Very slow respond…
They responded within 2h to my ticket… Maybe it is a time difference thing?
They finally have respond my ticket yesterday. They said, they just missed it..
Have submit another ticket, got a response in less than an hour.. :)
Thanks…
Hello,
Your ticket was replied to thank you for your continued loyalty.
This is a very cheap offer– I did extensive research on Semo Web for two days before purchasing. It looks like ever since they started getting their own servers things have been stable and only positive comments!
My experience so far is great, support enabled TUN/TAP within a few minutes and held my hand through the order process on live chat. Thumbs up. :)
Thank you for the positive feed back.
:)
Signed up for this offer last night, reloaded with Debian 6 via SolusVM, and couldn’t ping or ssh to it (though I can ping out). I don’t know if it worked with the default template, because the very first thing I did was install the Debian 6 template.
SSH via PowerConsole does work, and I tried installing nginx from the Debian repositories, and got all kinds of errors related to the OpenVZ configuration on my container. Submitted a support ticket last night (this morning, really) and now have not heard anything back from them during regular business hours today. Completely unacceptable to not at least receive a response saying “We’re looking into the problem” during regular business hours the day after submitting a support ticket.
May I get a ticket number? No one else is facing such issues so Id love to resolve yours.
Ticket ID: #887511
I actually did get a reply, about 3 minutes after you replied here, so I’m guessing that you found my ticket. I’ve actually tried using several of the other available templates (Debian 5, Ubuntu 10.10, and Cent 5.5) as well, and I have the same problem with not being able to access the VPS.
Thanks for taking the time to check this out.
Hello,
Dale replied, let us know via the ticket if you need more help.
I’d just like to let everyone else know that my issue has been resolved. My best guess is that there was a glitch in the creation of the container. Their support staff has been wonderful, though I’m not sure why it took so long for a reply to my initial ticket. It might have been my fault, actually, since I created the ticket, then replied to it with more information, which might have changed it’s status from “New” in their support ticket system, and caused it to not be seen right away. My apologies to everyone at Semoweb for the initially harsh criticism of their support – you’ve been great and handling the problem.
Nick,
No problem, we apologize on our end for the oversight and you are correct about replying the second time it bumped it to the bottom of the queue any how the main thing is your issues is solved and your happy.
Let us know if you need anything else its been a pleasure working with you.
Dallas is currently out of stock, all orders are being placed on a new node in Orlando Florida.
There seems to be a network issue with Slave8 node. I cannot ping out from VPS. I have submitted a ticket.
Hello,
It was a global issue on that node and it has been fixed we apologize and if your ticket has not been updated provide a ticket number.
It is fixed by now. Although I lost some traffic (that time is a peak traffic for me in China), I understand that you guys need time to respond and it was late night. The server is now running well :-)
Insraq,
We will always do our best for you and I apologize for the intial issue you faced things are running smooth now :-p
I am on Slave 8 (2 of them) and have no problem.
John,
Very nice to hear. We thank you for the opportunity.
@semoweb :
I misunderstood semoweb offers and subscribed yesterday. I contacted the billing service to request a refund. While billing service understood my mistake, they don’t want to refund me but instead added credit to my account (vps cancelled).
But i’m “blocked” : these 30$ are stuck on my SemoWeb account.
Anyway to get it back on my Paypal account ???
Unless, one wants to buy it :).
By th way, i congratulate Semoweb for the instant vps setup and excellent support !
Thank you.
Hello,
We do not offer refunds on VPS and your VPS was fully created and working and per our TOS refunds are excluded on VPS.
I know exactly who you are as I dealt with your ticket with Audrey, Douglas… It seems we have a resolution that you requested. :D
Also thank you for the positive feed back regarding instant set up and excellent support.
Hello,
You’re right ! Indeed, i subscribed too quickly (so fed up to face with out of stock vps !) and read too quickly the TOS :) !
As a mini-review, i can say it : I congratulate your services for the instant setup and for all your efforts on support ! For people searching a cheap OpenVZ VPS : SemoWeb is the deal !
As you told it : the support have made a wonderful work to find the best solution for my case !
Thank you again :) !
XZed,
Thank you for the update its truly been a pleasure working with you.
All the best,
Semoweb,
Thank you too for all your efforts : i advice SemoWeb to anyone searching for a cheap & quality VPS w/ an excellent responsive support !
I’ll second that recommendation. Semoweb is an excellent provider. I’ve been a very happy customer since October 2010.
SledDog,
Thank you for the positive feed back, Thank you for the opportunity.
Greetings
+1 to this :)
I been with Semo three month, first I had some issues logging in but support fixed for me within couple of minutes.
After that, no more issues and I am very satisfied.
Paulo,
Thank you for the kind words.
:D
Hey,
I got a VPS with them for one month and I have nothing but good things to say about them. The VPS handles my sites well. I called in a few times for an emergency reboot (As I forgot my Solus login info) and the rep did it for me. Thanks
Nick,
Its our pleasure. Let us know if you ever need more hep we will be here for you.
I am back, because semoweb is very good!
Today, some issue My vps down, and I submite an Ticket, get reply back in 3 min!! so fast, and my vps in 5 min online~~ Great Job!!
I order 5 vps on semoweb!! I hope them keep the good job!!
Jhon,
Sorry for the issues caused last night, we were facing a network issue which then was brought to our attention by level 3 that it was a ddos attack, the vps being attacked was null routed to allow everything to come back online.
Things have been back to normal and our monitoring team is keeping a close eye out.
We look forward for many more years serving you.
Very good job!
I want to enjoy for many more years serving me!
lol;
Hope: Keep the good job! keep long time is hard!
Tried to order and the web site is down. That doesn’t bode very well.
My VPS with them is up, and so is SolusVM (and now their website is back up, as well). It looks like they’re running their main website and ordering system on a server in LiquidWeb’s datacenter, in Lansing, Michigan. It’s likely that this was just a problem at LiquidWeb’s datacenter or they were rebooting their server and you happened to try to order while it was coming back up.
Hello,
That is correct we do have our main website with Liquid Web and they were facing a network issue it was down for no longer than 5 minutes and we apologize for any issues caused.
Just as I was about to sign up with another provider, I got the reply comment saying your site was back up so I went ahead with Semo. So far I am very impressed with this VPS. I’ve been with 2 other OpenVZ providers, HostRail and 123systems.net, and SemoWeb is by far the most professional and courteous, not to mention performance is excellent for the price and support is fast. I couldn’t ask for a better VPS provider.
@Ryan
Yes, I hope we can nominate semo for the next quarter n_n. But let’s see how it goes. At this moment, everything is fine.
Ryan,
Thanks for choosing us, Let us know if you ever run into any issues.
@Yomero That would be awesome :)
Hello, I am very Satisfied with the service provided by SemoWeb. I had been struggling to get a nice place where install and keep my files and forget about looking on it again and again on server side.
Points that I would like to highlight are:
1. Super Quick Response.
2. Great Support.
3. Internet Connection is Great!
4. 100% UP till now
5. Flexible and Affordable rates.
Overall this is AWESOME.
Thank you SemoWeb
Regards
Max Ragnarok
Max,
Thank you for the kind words, we will continue to do our best.
i have to say you have the worse hosting in the world
I agree. Great price, decent I/O, nice support. The speed to Asia is nice. What else can I ask for??? :-)
I agree too!!nice support! The speed to Asia is nice. What else can I ask for??? :-)
:)
Thats the way its suppose to be so if you ever feel there is some slacking be sure to to let us know as we always strive to exceed expectations.
Hello,
Thank you so much for the update, I’m truly glad every one is happy we will continue to make sure you all are happy!
My IP geolocates to Orlando and says is owned by HostDime. Are you using their IP’s in Dallas?
Ryan,
Actually Dallas it sold out as soon as it was sold out I posted here in LEB I think you caught it once all orders were switched to our new deployed server in Orlando.
Just buy my 1st VPS and decide to choose SEMOWEB since i saw lot of good feedback here and the CS also active :)
wish me luck! :)
(totally my very 1st experience using VPS)
B0W0,
Thank you for the opportunity its really a pleasure having you here.
Let us know if you need anything all the best.
Hello,
Would you please have a look on ticket #239674. It still doesn’t work.. :(
Thanks…
Hello,
Sorry for the delay in response I have personally replied to your ticket.
All the best,
Dustin
Hi.
This is my follow-up review of SemoWeb Budget VPS.
I have shared my experience earlier but thought I should follow up to show my appreciation to Dustin and his team.
I would like to dedicate this paragraph to thank Skyler in support, for helping me fix the iptables issue I was having, thanks for replying in just a FEW minutes!! Amazing support, for a budget provider. I would even say their support is better than Rackspace, and they are a >BUDGET< provider!
Never had any downtime,I'm now running VPN and photo family site on this VPS, and you might not believe it, but it is running VERY fast still.
So:
Support: 9/10 (I say this because no Host is perfect)
Performance: 10/10
Uptime: 10/10 (I haven't had any downtime yet)
Keep up the great work Dustin and I promise I will be your customer for a long time to come.
Regards
Thank you for the positive feed back, We will be sure to keep up the good work.
It’s down now.
Hello,
Have you submitted a ticket? Its always best to contact us directly as Lowendbox isn’t a support channel.
I just put in a ticket too (235894) as my VPS has gone offline. I was able to SSH to the VPS for a moment and it was showing a 100% packet loss on a ping out and the VPS was only using 4% memory; yet the VPS control panel gives much higher memory usage. Rebooting did not work.
Repaired the issue in a couple of minutes…excellent.
Glad the issue was solved we were facing an overheat issue causing the server to run sluggish we reviewed the whole node and could not find anything wrong and we forwarded to the noc and indeed it was over heating and the issue was resolved thanks Yomero for the report :D
xD Spam spam :P
Good job n_n
Guys,
One small outage on there VPS today, but support replied to me in less than 2 minute and had it resolved it under 5 minutes.
Issues happen with every host but how they react to the issues is most important, and how semoweb reacted to this emergency proved to me they are stable, So i will start moving all my service from 123system and HostRail to them.
Let us thank low end admin for listing this to helping us find the best solution for us :D
Hans,
Bring em on over :)
Thanks for the opportunity and welcome aboard.
Slave 8 required a reboot as there was an upgrade on the kernel.
Should be online within 3 minutes.
I’ve signed up with SemoWeb 4 days ago (05/02/2011).
At first, MaxMind fraud check fails me to order (MaxMind doesn’t like my country), then I contact them manually. Payment made (via PayPal), VPS not delivered instantly, and they couldn’t locate my payment. VPS delivered after I manually provide the payment information. And now, after 4 days signed up and running the service, they just suspended my VPS because an Overdue Payment. I think the $3/m shouldn’t be $3/m, it’s $3/4days actually for me (Because their billing error)
Hello,
I seen your message on twitter http://screensnapr.com/v/dQ9KLD.png and as per the screen shot I replied.
You never replied so I took the extra step talked with Skyler, Brad, Noah, Brett.. who were on shift through out the night and asked if anyone had done your ticket so I can further investigate… Brad already had taken care of your issue and unsuspended your account.
Also reviewing your tickets our response time was really really fair and you even opened multiple tickets which could of lead to more confusion..
I’m not here to scold you but here to ensure you were not going to run with your money and our prices are legit and you will get your full service with us.
If you run into any more issues please do not hesitate to contact us.
Dallas is back in stock, All new orders will be placed in Dallas.
I have to admit I took this offer not thinking of it to much just to host a single site but it out performs my Xen from another provider so planning on migrating to them for all my hosting needs. All I can say is great support and performance for the price.
William,
Glad to hear everything is going well thats our goal is to keep you happy!
Just bought this offer. works fine ! Good work.
Cracklight,
Thanks for the update, We will continue to do our best and most importantly thanks for the opportunity.
I’ve had my VPS for over a month now. Port speed is good, I/O throughput is good but I/O wait was a bit of a concern for a bit there, but a support ticket resolved that. I’m happy for the price i’m paying, though. :)
Hello,
Glad to hear your happy. That’s our goal!
I ordered this vps a couple of months ago, I’ve been very happy with it. I may need to upgrade to a higher package for more RAM, but no complaints about the service.
Support has been quick to respond, and they’re on twitter to respond to any quick questions as well.
Could anyone here to show your benchmark results…
WHAT I JUST LEARNED ABOUT VPS OPERATORS…A question you need to ask is, does your VPS operator have local terminal access to your VPS, if not, any glitch in your VPS that prevents SSH login and you are FINISHED, the only solution you will be offered is to REINSTALL THE OPERATING SYSTEM and blow-off all your files. Unfortunately, while Semoweb has nice prices, they do not have local terminal access–in other words–they are remote VPS operators.
Do they not have the “Console” option available to you in the SolusVM control panel?
This should drop you into your vps even if SSH is not running.
They do have a console option in the SolusVM control panel, however it never works for me. It also gives an ‘SSH to Console’ option, where you can (should be able to) SSH into the host node and view the console, however that does not work either. Essentially they have the option but it does not work or is not configured correctly on their end.
The only time this became a problem for me was when I accidentally locked myself out of my VPS with iptables, luckily a reboot cleared iptables and I was able to get back in.
The serial console only works on port 1197. Don’t use the default port 22.
The “console” option is defunct–never has worked. They clearly have no back-door or they would have utilized it. The irony is, the VPS is serving-up webpages nicely, but I can’t get into the box. My own backdoor, Webmin, which has saved me previously from SSH going haywire, is also offline. Both SSH and Webmin were running on non-standard ports which makes me wonder if the ISP’s firewall has locked me out. Semoweb did not respond to that inquiry.
ssh: connect to host 74.63.214.130 port 1197: Connection refused
ssh: connect to host 74.63.214.130 port 22: Connection refused
That is the IP given to me in control panel for console access. Doesn’t work.
Did you et root-password for your box?
If it’s openvz it should have a backdoor in it, especially with solusvm.
@Bill Webb
The out of band console is working. I used it a week ago and it came in handy.
You guys saved me…apparently SEMOWEB got one of the VPS consoles running by changing it to the correct port and despite Semoweb’s advice that the operating system would have to be reinstalled because SSH files were corrupted, I installed the dropbear SSH and it came to life immediately. THANKS. Hopefully SEMOWEB can at least get the console running on the other VPS.
Ok so im gonna tell the truth about there service. If you Google there name there are a lot of comments about there speed being so slow. I thought to my self maybe there all lies. So i signed up with them with 3 of my sites each site is getting around 500 views a day so no traffic at all.The speed is so slow. There are peak times were like in the morning ( uk time ) everything goes slow. Then at night 1 / 2 uk time it gets a bit faster. Toke me 3 hours to upload 50 files. I had to zip the file and upload. I then asked support to check the speeds and to unzip the zip because 3 hours for 50 files and i had 150 to upload. I got a message back saying ” you are on a unsupported vps ” when i also asked about the slowness. Also try and send emails from the vps. I try and send email’s and i get back you have been black listed. Because there are other spam article on the same server has me i can not send emails from the vps. I own a online game and can’t even send a email on user register because of other members using semo web on the same server black listing the server. Please try and avoid this company when something goes wrong e.g your vps goes down you will get ” you are on a unsupported vps ” The speed is so bad. 3 hours to upload 50 files. Im on the 5 dollor vps not on shared hosting or anything like that a vps. PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST BECAUSE OF THE SPEED.
P.s im on a 100mb internet line so ftp / upload is not because of my internet or computer.
Please avoid this company
Just thought id add a little update. In one week my sites/ Vps have been down for 3 whole days. The sites/ vps is up and running i go to sleep wake up and the vp shows offline and try and boot it but does not boot. I report the problem to there support at 9.00 am in the morning and they do not get the vps working till the next day. Im losing so much money because of semo web. They say they have 99.9 up time but trust me they wouldn’t even hit 70%. 3 out of the 7 days of the week the vps is down. I have asked them for a sorry ( seen has my sites earn 1000 a day ) but they just close there tickets. The support is real bad. Please don’t use these for hosting. Ive been with them for a year now and there the worse hosting ive ever been with.
Ahm, 1000/day.
Do an inversion in better hosting and not just 3 bucks. Ridiculous…
look at the posts. Seems like everyone is over the moon with the hosting im showing that the hosting is not what everyone thinks.
